Mating conopid flies


On ragwort, Bardney Limewoods, Lincs. The pale 5th tergite in the male suggests C. ceriaeformis, but these flies are unfamiliar to me, and I'm not convinced that the abdomen of the female is dark enough. Sorry I didn't have a chance to get pictures from any other angle.

It's Conops quadrifasciatus, I got them mating last year on Ragwort, this year on Achillea in my garden. They don't take a lot of notice of me while mating, or any other time for that matter.
