| | | Re: 2nd Bee for ID if pos! Matt is spot on. This is a very worn specimen so accurate determination from a pic is not possible. Where was the pic taken... and when? These are vital clues in helping us to rule things out.... even if it can't necessarily give us a final answer.
A. humilis flies as a single generation in May to late June and only visits yellow-flowered Asteraceae for pollen. |

| | | Re: 2nd Bee for ID if pos! Hi Eucera/ Matt, thanks for the reply - I don't know why I didn't date it, I usually do and put the location and host flower, so here goes:-
Taken on 27/07/2010 in the corner of SE Kent. It was visiting the flowers of a coriander plant in the garden. I didn't realise until I put the photos on the screen that the golden hairs on the legs were hairs and not pollen! |

| | | Re: 2nd Bee for ID if pos! Late July would certainly be a late date for 2nd brood A. flavipes.... and could well explain the extreme abrasion in your specimen. You are also well in range.
What all this tells us is that Matt's original suggestion of A. flavipes is still entirely valid | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
