| | | Help with Bee ID please Can anyone help ID this bee please, I'm thinking it might be Lasioglossum calceatum based on photos from the BWARS site but I'm not completely convinced.
Thanks

| | | Re: Help with Bee ID please Morning Nick,
When was this taken? It's a Nomad Bee, a Nomada species.
Take care, Jason |

| | | Re: Help with Bee ID please Hi Jason, the photo was taken on the 24/07/2010 in SE Kent UK, it was feeding on origanum vulgaris
I'll look up your suggestion, thanks |

| | | Re: Help with Bee ID please I suppose this could be a male of the second generation of Nomada fabriciana. We would need to see the opened mandibles to be more certain! |

I'm still waiting for someone to tell me which species, other than those discounted, might be flying at that time.
Maybe you could help out with that Stuart? Mine show the open mandibles too! Which Nomada flying now?

| | | Re: Help with Bee ID please Summer Nomada include the second brood of the bivoltine species:
N. fabriciana
N. fulvicornis
N. fucata
There are sometimes 2 generations of N. goodeniana too, especially where it is on Andrena thoracica.
Summer only species include:
N. flavopicta (on various Melitta)
N. rufipes (on Andrena fuscipes, and rarely A. nitidiuscula)
N. errans (on A. nitidiuscula and probably extinct in UK)
N. armata (on A. hattorfiana)
N. argentata (on A. marginata)
N. baccata (on A. argentata)
I THINK that's all! |
