| | Need help to identify and deal with house bug please Hi all,
Our house has been infested with a type of bug in the last few days. They are only about 3 - 4 mm in length and we have no idea what they are or how to get rid of them (please see pics)
We keep finding them in all our rooms and it is kind of creeping us out a little. They crawl up walls and across the floors. They dont fly or jump, just crawl slowly
I would really appreciate some advise on firstly what they are and secondly how best to get rid of them.
Many thanks in advance

| | | Re: Need help to identify and deal with house bug please It looks like some kind of weevil. The fact that they crawl also points to this. Do they aim to get to windows/light? My reaction would be to spray them!

thanks for replying. I wouldn't say that they are crawling towards windows or light but it is hard to tell, they just seem to crawl up walls etc.
I actually found 3 or 4 inside an opened loaf of bread about 10 minutes ago. They seemed to be lying still until i moved the bread and they sort of came out it, yuck
Have you any idea on how and why they may have came into my house? We have never had anything like this before... We are now in the process of a really thorough clean.

| | | Re: Need help to identify and deal with house bug please I think they may be Grain weevils. Have you bags of flour or other cereal products in your cupboards? As you found some in the bread this sounds possible. Harmless, especially if cooked!!!

| | | Re: Need help to identify and deal with house bug please We do have some flour and just normal breakfast cereals in the cupboards but havent seen any signs of the bugs in those.... Only the couple in that particular loaf.
They are in every room of the house it would seem, they just keep appearing out of knowhere
My wife is having a hard time dealing with it as she hates bugs
Any other suggestions as to how I can stop them or suggestions on where I should spray the insect repellant?
Thanks |

| | Re: Need help to identify and deal with house bug please We have cleaned the whole house from top to bottom this weekend and sprayed every room. The spray is working because we have found lots of dead ones but we are still finding lots of new alive ones too... Any ideas of what i can try next anyone??
We are starting to get desperate as we don't know where they could be coming from and how this might have happened in the 1st place
Any further help would be greatly appreciated |

it seems to have some small red spots so it is Sitophilus oryzae or S. zeamais. Both feed on grains and are normally found in mills and storehouses. if you find them at home they normally come of the boxes in which you keep the food for birds, guinea pigs, goöden hamsters and others. Just check this box and I guess you found your problems.
Put it into a plasticbag, close it and throw it into the dustbin.
