handled this flying insect and the smell!!!! any idea of what it is?
today i was cutting a bush and notice this beautiful flying insect which looked like a rainbow! i had it in my hand as it wasnt flying anywhere.. next thing was i notice this really bad foul smell on my hand and i cant get it off.

can any one tell me what this insect could be??

From your description it was probably one of the more colourful shield bugs often referred to as stink bugs.

hi just had a look at some photos and it wasnt a shield bug, it was more like a long fly :-/
