Bug ID please

Took a few pics of this one, it's legs were almost fluorescent green in the sunlight, unfortunately not os vivid in photos.

Afternoon Jane,

This is an Ichneumon Wasp. As for a more specific identification, it is pretty difficult! Photographs can only do a few of the bigger more distinctive ones such as some Pimpla, and of course Rhyssa persuasoria.

There is a good British key to sub-families which understandably requires a specimen, but species-level from there-on is reliant on sourcing presumably European literature to these groups. It's not something I've tried personally, but who knows in the [pretty distant!] future.

Thanks for that, thought it might be, I've seen a few different ones but normally they don't sit still long enough to photograph!
