What amazed me was the way it zipped from flower to flower at instant speed just like the smaller hoverflies; but with a bigger mass - wow. Was kinda scary hence being out of focus sorry  . I am in the South East and saw this on Therfield Heath - first one i ever saw but by the sounds of it they are well established in the south east.

Still looking for inflata! Anyone else seen one? | Have never knowingly seen V. inflata (it does look distinctive enough), though usually regularly encounter zonaria, inanis + pellucens in the summer. |
