Sarcophaga
Is it safe to lable this one as Sarcophaga sp? I know they can't be reliably separated without a microscope but are there other similar ones in a different genus?

Afternoon Si,

Yes, I'd say so. We have about 50 in the UK with some, say some distinctive ones - but there are several falling under this chequer-board guise unfortunatey!

I believe ID would be based on male genitalia and bristle-placement.
