Hoverfly feeding on potentilla flowers- taken yesterday - guessing it might be a Eupeodes sp. One oddity is that unlike most hoverflies this one was happy to fly into the bush to escape my attentions (similar to Didea sp.)
Any ideas on ID

E. latilunulatus is supposed to have a straight edge on front edge of tergites 3 and 4, the hairs on the scutellum can be black (as in E. luniger, pale, or a mixture). So I'd say E latilunulatus for this but I have no experience of it. |

Morning Brian,
It's probably a broadly-marked male Eupeodes luniger ( centrally joined and diagonal at the bottom in Didea), though there are inconsistencies - try Hoverfly.org.uk.
