| | | Red Eyed Monster - a fly This fellow was feeding on wayside flowers when my wife Margaret took this photograph which she readilly conceeds is not the best but hopefully someone can identify it for us.
Looks like a biter but if it is we escaped unbitten.

It's a male Chrysops caecutiens - a Horsefly from the Tabanidae family. Regardless of the ( nice and close  ) viewpoint, it showed all I needed.
