Unknown solitary wasp (?)
Two pictures of an aculeate hymenopteran resting on leaves of Traveller's Joy Clematis vitalba along a hedgerow in arable farmland, Berkshire.




I'm presuming that this is a solitary wasp, but would appreciate correction or any further guidance.

Certainly a sphecid. Difficult to say which genus.

Thanks for the confirmation: I didn't have much hope of learning the genus.

Its ages since I looked at the books for these, so as much as anything its just useful to refresh the memory as to what I should be looking for!
