Not a hornet!
Think I've got this one right - female Volucella zonaria:
It was zooming around my patio this morning and sat on the table and waited for me to take its picture!

I think this one is Volucella inanis female.

Afternoon Hed,

Very close! It's got all-yellow abdominal segments which makes it V. inanis (zonaria's are varying chestnut to an orange yellow towards the rear).
