flie for id please

after searching through the insect Gallery and the a-z, i cannot find one quite like this, the closest i can find are Tachina sp and Phaonia sp, but knowing absolutely nothing about flies, i am probably miles away from the correct id




any suggestions most welcome,

Hi ashgale - it's those 'plates of meat' that did it for me ...

Yes, a Flesh Fly Sarcophaga sp. We have 50+ in the UK, and most couldn't be done from photos.

yes they are somewhat on the large size, possibly a Sasquatch fly
you never seem to notice these details until you get the phot up on the screen,
