| | | Is this a bee? This morning I saw what I though it was a worn grey bee feeding in the buddleia. This is the best photo I got before it dissapeared. I just want to confirm it is actually a bee, if any expert can do it from the wing venation.

| | | Re: Is this a bee? I followed the Bees of Surrey key for bees, and discarding things that clearly weren't and I come at Anthophora, a male as pollen baskets are not visible. Given the time of the year and location I'd go for A. furcata. I have never seen this sp. in buddleia, but terraincognita recent shot in Flickr shows they do at the end of their flight period: Anthophora furcata m | Flickr - Photo Sharing!
