Fly like bug in my clothing

Could somebody help me identify the fly like insect that was cralwing (very quickly) about under my tee shirt? I think it was biting me as when I squashed it (sorry!) red blood could be seen. It was very flat looking and was incredibly difficult to dispatch, squeezing it between my fingers failed to kill it. I am concerned we may have some sort of infestation so would like to figure out what it is. Check the linked picture below.

Hi Chris

This is one of the Louseflies Hippoboscidae,It has been the Forest fly that has been trying to get me for awhile,but with the autumn,the Deerfly Liptotena cervi starts to become a little annoying,and often in greater numbers than the Forest fly(I've had clouds of L.cervi around me.
I can remember the alarm the first time I found one on me ,but you will not be infested .As for killing them ,splatting rarely works ,but they don't like being rubbed in,use some friction,try to get a few for me.

Thanks for putting my mind at rest. I checked through my cupboard and could not find any more and with your information it would appear this was a one-off.
