| | Insect torture I have been searching the net for videos of insects for a new online website database. As such I have been searching on YouTube and have been horrified by what I have seen. People are killing or watching insects in pain and putting the videos online! Has society sunk so low? Surely these sort of videos should be banned?
Tell me these videos are morally right? YouTube - ‪20100729 142554‬‎ YouTube - ‪Ants vs Hornet‬‎ |

| | | Re: Insect torture The trouble is children don't generally learn much about insects at school and just see them as an undifferentiated mass of bugs, and of course some bugs do bite.
Education, as ever, is the answer, but education implies not just a teacher but also a receptive pupil with a degree of empathy, it may be some time before the denizens of the insect world elicit the same kind of interest and sympathy as Pandas and Polar Bears. |

| | | Re: Insect torture If you flag the videos you think are not acceptable they could be removed..
The ants V hornet is nature in the raw and no different than filming a bop take and eat its meal..
There is no human interference they are only filming what they see..
I have seen worse on WAB..

I have seen worse on WAB.. | I agree - the top video is objectional but the latter one is basically a wildlife doc and inherently no different to filming a bird of prey taking a pigeon or a lion taking a gazelle
you can flag the top one for removal but i wouldnt hold your breath - it took weeks and numerous complaints to get one of a rottie being set on a watervole removed.
