Volucella inanis?
I've just transferred the pics I took in the garden yesterday afternoon and I think I am on fairly safe ground with this beautifully-marked specimen if I take a stab at Volucella inanis?

Yes Volucella inanis

The similar but slightly larger V.zonaria has a brown front to the abdomen.
