After searching the images I think this one is Chrysotoxum festivum -feel free to correct me if I'm wrong or congratulate me on a correct id if I'm right    
Seen in the garden today

This is not a common species and is usually coastal in yorkshire. |

Well I'm in Barnsley - about as far from any coast you can get in Yorkshire  - 70miles to Cleethorpes if I'm really desperate to see the sea

It does occur around Barnsley, but only locally and in the eastern side.
