| | Damselfly - how lucky!! Hi
I paid a brief visit to my local nature reserve yesterday, and while there I was spotted by one of the volunteer wardens. Seeing that I had my camera he invited me to follow him to the pond at the front of the Visitor Centre.
He pointed out a rather rare visitor to the area - a Small Red Eyed Damselfly
So I took some pictures (not brilliant ones - the damselfly was very small and I was a bit of a distance for taking such images really ).
I thought you might like to see one....
Click the image to see it larger - it looks a little better then..
That was a lucky 'spur of the moment' visit for me!
Thanks for looking

| | Re: Damselfly - how lucky!! It's amazing these were only first found in the UK (Essex) in 1999 + is now fairly common in the south-east + certainly up to the Midlands at least. Not sure how far west they've expanded.
Always good to see. |

Always good to see. | Indeed - I take them for granted here in Essex! |

Jim | Sorry - my mistake !
What I meant to say was if you click on the image - although it says 'click for larger image' it just makes it look a bit sharper.
I was quite excited to see it, but the volunteer wardens were really excited to see it - I can't remember if it was perhaps the first or second time it has been seen at the reserve, which is owned by Hampshire and Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust.

Take care, Jason
