I photographed a Tephritid on these same thistles a couple of weeks ago & had them ID'd as Xyphosia miliaria. Now these galls have appeared & hoped it would be a straight forward ID on the gall. At least I'm in the right area.  |

I'm no Tephritid expert, but aren't Xyphosia galls in the capitulum rather than the stem? | | |
