Hello everyone! Today I was out at dusk on a track lined with hedgerows, trees etc., and found this creature crawling along the ground. I took it home to take a photo, and didn't realise it was even a flying beetle at first because it took a good 20-30 minutes for it to start trying to escape!!
I've been looking online for a while but can't find anything quite like it. The only other distinguishing feature is it has a red underside.

Hi LC
It looks like a Tanner Beetle Prionus coriarius,a species of Longhorn beetle.

Yes - this is Prionus - not a very common species and worth passing the details on to the Longhorn recording scheme. |
