| | | tiny wasps? These tiny wasps (I think), maybe 5 mm long, were nesting on woodworm holes in a sculpture made out of an old horse-chestnut tree stump in our street. The second one seems to be carrying something looking like a larvae. They were getting in an out of the holes in the wood. Any idea as to their identity?

| | | Re: tiny wasps? Hi Janet, I am afraid they are not Hylaeus. I don't think they are even bees. You can just see a wasps waist through the wings, and the mandibles cross in the middle like in an Ectemnius. I am leaning more towards some type of wasp. Also the fact that they are getting some sort of prey into the nest. I should try and get better shots, but they are so tiny I am really in the limits of what I can photograph! Here is another shot, there is one inside a hole with its face looking out.

| | | Re: tiny wasps? Yes that face is a wasps! Crabronidae by the looks. Maybe Crossocerus sp.
(I didn't see the first pic in your first post!)
