| | | Is this a Colletes sp. bee? In my S. Devon garden two days ago. On Michaelmas Daisy so the bee would be around 1 inch.
Just this one quick snap which isn't sufficient to follow any keys; but I thought it had something of a Colletes look to it.
I'm not expecting a full ID here, but would Colletes be in the right area? Or have I, once again, overlooked something obvious. |

| | | Re: Is this a Colletes sp. bee? Afternoon Geoff,
Now, I don't know the appearances of the full breadth of the Colletes genus but to me this is a faded Bombus pascuorum.
Take care, Jason |

| | | Re: Is this a Colletes sp. bee? Yes that is where I started, Jason, but I was thinking it appears a touch on the long side and the tail end seems a bit sharp pointed.
But I have never seen a bumble this bald (must be a male then!) so it could well be that simple. |

| | | Re: Is this a Colletes sp. bee? Bombus pascuorum worker, you can see the hind leg is broad but it appears to have the middle leg to the rear as it's taking off.
The abdomen is being stretched as it takes off making it look that way.
Janet
