| | | Re: Yet more hoverflies! Well I would cast my votes for: #1 Syrphus possibly S. ribesii; #2 Eupeodes possibly E. latifasciatus; #3 Another Syrphus sp.
But these are all species which are subject to a bit of questioning, so ideally I would like to see a few more clear details before becoming totally certain. |

| | | Re: Yet more hoverflies! Evening Hed,
I agree with Geoff. The first and last could be Syrphus ribesii...
Take care, Jason |

| | | Re: Yet more hoverflies! Syrphus ribesii and S. rectus females apparently both have yellow hind femora.
#2 is Eupeodes luniger male.

| | | Re: Yet more hoverflies! Thank you all for IDs, I'm getting stripes before the eyes looking at these little creatures! See one land - have I seen it before?- snap it quickly before it flies away-count the stripes, etc. Ah well!

| | | Re: Yet more hoverflies! I did initially think E. luniger for #2 but was concerned that it appears a touch pale, particularly scuttellum and the hind leg; although the spots are a suitable shape.
Once again, I would really like to see more details before being certain either way. |

| | | Re: Yet more hoverflies! I doubt #2 could be anything else than E. luniger, the spots don't reach the sides and it's not the rarer E. lapponicus as there's yellow on tail end edges.
