There are also four Sulphur Beetles ( Tenebrionidae) too.
Take care, Jason

| | | Re: Quite a few Soldier Beetles about. Yes, I've seen masses of R. fulva active in Northamptonshire thsi weekend - rather late perhaps? There have also been a lot of hoverfly so the flying insects are not easy to count but when you look at individual umebllifer heads the Rhagonycha are most abundant on many plants. |

| | | Re: Quite a few Soldier Beetles about. Better late than never in replying to this post. A few weeks ago I came across 50+ Rhagogycha fulva in a relatively small area, all on hogweed.
Regards

Take care, Jason | They do love Hogweed Jason, though the flower in the OP's photo is another umbellifer- Wild Carrot (note the divided bracts)! |

| | | Re: Quite a few Soldier Beetles about. There were many Rhagonyca fulva all over the Heather in the New Forest, even some up in Birch trees, but I agree, the umbellifers are the best for the umbellifer bonking beetle. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
