I tried to picture it a bit more hairy, but still couldn't work out what it was. Photographed yesterday on Buddleia. I have got more photos with different angles if that would help.
Any ID help would be welcome.

I suspect it's from the Megachilinae sub-family ( similarity to Stelis sp.), but I don't have experience with this type so can't go further.

Wow, thank you eucera! Not a handsome bee but seems pretty rare according to the NBN maps. The record details are: TA0830, feeding in garden buddleia 24/07/2010.
