| | | Good home wanted for bees? I'm new to the site/forum so forgive me please if I have posted this in the wrong place.
My parents have a problem with lots of large bees going into their house (cavity wall or possibly cellar) through an external wall air vent. Mum has panicked a bit (its just below her kitchen window and she can't cope with strays coming in all the time) and tried to block off the route but we noticed lots or large lovely bees are dying around the entrance. It seems such a shame. We dont really want to find a 'pest' expert as (a) they might chemically kill them if they find a nest and (b) it will no doubt cost my pensioner parents money they can't really afford. Does anyone have any advice as to whether someone might be able to locate and rehouse them humanely? Im in Lancashire (WN7) area.
Thanks, Kate |

| | | Re: Good home wanted for bees? Afternoon Kate, and welcome to WAB!
Can you describe the bees for me? That way we can get closer to knowing which these may be and use that to think about how to relocate them depending on their needs.
Take care, Jason |

| | | Re: Good home wanted for bees? Thank you very much for warm welcome! Rather than waste anyone's time, I'll pop over to mums now and check the description and extent of today's problem. They were rather large ones if that helps! I'll be back soon. Thank you. Kate |

| | | Re: Good home wanted for bees? Can you get a photo of one? The differences between the different bees of various families can sometimes be subtle.
For some reason I suspect Megachilidae - not sure why, perhaps the hole-entering. |

| | | Re: Good home wanted for bees? Hi again...think I have found my way back to the forum...
I have taken some photos of the bees...am I allowed to post them on the forum? In fact they arent very good pics anyway because as the bees had died...they appear to have lost their very bright colour. So in (very) layman's terms...they are rather large...the bigger ones nearly as big as a 50p piece. They are very 'fluffy' rather noisy, can hear them coming from right across the garden. They have yellow stripes on the back...seems to be two (but the live ones are being awkward about being photographed!...and a very bright orange/yellow 'bottom/backside' which doesn't show up so good on the pics. They are clearly going to and from the wall air vent. I checked the Gallery and the nearest I can see is a buff tailed bumble bee but I may be way off the mark?? All advice gratefully received. thanks, Kate |

| | | Re: Good home wanted for bees? Thanks to Ben and Jason for your help up to now. I have some not terribly good pics but I understood I couldnt post external images? I tried to check the link about 'external images' but 'page not found' so I would appreciate any advice about how to upload the pics although they arent terribly good anyway?? Thanks for your patience. Kate |

| | | Re: Good home wanted for bees? Hi, on the blue bar at the very top of the page (the one with 'home' 'reference' 'forums' etc) you'll see on the far right 'images'. Click on this and it'll take you to the page to upload pics. It's really easy, just click on the browse button and choose the file from your computer that you want to upload. To add the photo to a post, start typing the reply as you have done and when you want to add the image click on the 'library images' button underneath the smilies (not ' Gallery images' though). A new window will open and you just click on the image you want to add to your post.
Hope this helps, Jo
PS make sure you've uploaded the picture before you start the post as I often forget this!

| | | Re: Good home wanted for bees? Tee hee. I dont wanna think about my mother's bottom ...TMI!! Thanks, I followed your advice about uploading the pics...they are somewhere in a Gallery under unidentified objects. They are very probably the worst photographs that have ever been posted on here cos they dont show their bottoms at all and they ought to show a very bright orange.yellow but ..we are a discreet sort of creature here in sunny Lancashire lol! Thanks. Kate | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
