| | | Queen ant Is this Lasius niger? This is the first queen ant I have seen, I didn't realise they were so big!
Also, the two antenna have a slightly different colour, is this normal for queen ants?

It looks like L. niger, dark brown with erect hairs on the antennal scape. L. niger has now been split into two species, here is a link that will give you the info on how to seperate the two...don't know if it works for queens though?
