Afternoon Shy,

It's a Spider-hunting Wasp, Pompilidae family (a very distinctive look). As for distinctive features, the face has silvery hairs on it which is a trend apparent in several Hymenopterans, so may not help us too much. Your wings are very dark and may help, but a view of the venation would be great as this may be used to divide sub-families.

Personally, I can't help - I can't even find a key for the UK ones! Well done on getting these images, they are often very active on the hot days/blue-sky-days they appear on.
