Help identifying this fly
I found this fly dead in my kitchen today, which is sad as I like to "repatriate" instead of exterminating. Its of a type I've never seen before and at first I thought it was a wasp but on closer inspection I believe it is a fly of some sort. The colouring is more beige than yellow and the rear is flattened, not pointed.

Hi Mickrick and welcome.

The image linking on WAB takes a bit of getting used to .

Your pic is of a hoverfly, possibly Heliophilus species.

Afternoon Mick, and welcome to WAB!

It's a Sun Hoverfly, a Helophilus species as Steve says. Probably Helophilus pendulus, but a view of the legs would help.
