| | | Female leaf cutter bee and the picnic table We camp in a wild meadow on the Cardigan coast every year, and the brother in law-Berwyn who owns the field decided to have a joke and put an old picnic table in the field- for our convenience! But it backfired somwhat when I eventualy plowed my way through to it, he had not put sheep in the field so it was waist deep, further humour- he put 8 lambs in the field whilst we were there! I know perhaps he was telling us something, but trust me it's just his sense of humour Anyway female cutter Bee making her nest in the picnic table-result!
Really difficult to photograph as she would not aproach nest, if I was near so had to improvise a hide and sneak in. Ugliest bee I have ever seen!!

| | | Re: Female leaf cutter bee and the picnic table Evening Howy, and welcome to WAB!
Excellent behavioural images - they aren't the easiest to photograph like that, flying so directly and purposefully!
Take care, Jason |

| | | Re: Female leaf cutter bee and the picnic table Thank you Knight Commander-Sir. It was a challenge, they are so quick and small. As for behaviour I could have watched for hours always a special moment when you get the rare opportunity to witness something new in life. |

| | | Re: Female leaf cutter bee and the picnic table Certainly a sp. I would like to see, especially in the act of leaf cutting or nest making. V. well spotted, and the images are excellent.
