Pollen Eating Beetle 2-3mm long.
Has a dark green metallic tint although this does not show well in the flash light.
Any ID thoughts?    |

Evening Lester,
Well, these LBJs are often difficult from photos, we have about 35 Pollen Beetles in the UK and given their size, they seem quite specialist.
The closest thing I could say is it being from the Nitidulidae family - but could be wrong.

Hi!
It is a pollen beetle belonging to the Nitidulidae family. It is a Meligethes sp. (probably aeneus species but of course I cannot be certain)

Well many thanks, I quite understand you can't get a definitive ID from a photo, but it is nice to have an idea of what things are so I can look up the life cycle etc.
PS just looked up Meligethes in BioImages, there are a lot!
