Two male horseflies.
First a rather impressive beast. Found resting on an oak leaf. Easily greater than 20mm long, I think this has to be a male Tabanus sudeticus, only the second time I've seen this species and the other one was also a male.



The commonest Tabanid here is Haematopota pluvialis, but this one looks different. Could it be the less common H. crassicornis or are there other species in the UK.
