Beautiful demoiselles
Has anyone else been surprised at the amazing abundance of this damselfly this year? They are common enough in these parts but we are seeing them in fives rather than ones at almost every waterside spot we visit.

A scarce species in the south-east (partly due to less of its favoured habitat) but it does appear to be turning up at some new sites.

Yes I've seen a couple feeding on small streams in S. Devon this year. And one has appeared in exactly the same position, about 5 ft away from me, on 2 occasions where it has kept perching then feeding over and over while totally ignoring me and my camera.

He moves too fast for me to snap a flying photo though!
