Help with identification please.

Hi i'm new to this forum so bare with me if this goes wrong.
Can anyone help me with a name for this insect. It was probably only 8-10mm long. Thankyou.

A Woolly Aphid species?

Hi Gudge, sorry can't help with a name but can i say thanks for posting, that has to be the most fascinating creature i have ever seem, at a guess i would say it is some sort of fly as opposed to moth due to lack of colouration on the wings, but what species i have no idea at all.

Hope someone can help you as i would really like to know the answer as well.

Thankyou. This has been bugging (no pun intended) me for about a month. It does look similar to the woolly aphids in the Gallery. great help.Thanks again.

Thanks for the comments beekeeper & aeshna5. I have done a little more checking and believe it is a woolly aphid and there is an apple tree very close to the site.
