I never realised that aphids had such a long rostrum.

| | | Re: Aphid I'd be surprised if anyone was able to give a definite ID from those photos because they don't show the cornicles clearly and the dark colour might prevent one seeing any pattern on the abdomen. However, the dark colour in itself is rather unusual. |

I don't know whether this photo is any help. I can't say I can see any obvious cornicles, but I thought that they were absent in some aphids.
If it's worthwhile I could try & get some better photos tomorrow.

I don't think any literature I've got is going to be much good in this case, so I've just done a quick search on the internet and wonder whether it could be a Stomaphis sp. Unfortunately I can't find a picture of a winged one. But some of them are dark and they do have tiny cornicles and long probosces.
