| | | Red Flying Bug While butterflying at Holtsour Bank NR near Beaconsfield bucks I saw a bright red flying "bug" about the size of a honey bee. Not much to go on I know - very fast on the wing & unfortutanely didn't settle & disappeared as quick as it arrived. HB list all insects on their site found there but nothing seems to fit the bill - the only thing I can find that is red is Lily Bug - do they look hairy when flying. I just had the impression of it beig "haired" much like a bee.

| | Re: Red Flying Bug Possibly one of the burnet moths? They can look quite reddish in flight + can fly rather bee like + plenty on the wing at the moment. |

| | | Re: Red Flying Bug thank you aeshna5 - I didn't even think moth. Having checked the species list for Holtspur Bank - six - spot burnett is recorded there so seems likely what I saw.
Always learning never learnt!
Thanks again
