| | | Miridae Deraeocoris flavilinea Hi,
Is this correct? Pale line top and bottom of pronotum.
Taken on 3rd July on a shrub next to a mixed native hedge, close to Sycamore.

You know, there is only one dot on the NBN map.

| | | Re: Miridae Deraeocoris flavilinea Not surprising, as the recording scheme isn't yet on NBN! It's now very widespread at least in England, and is abundant even in Yorkshire. |

| | | Re: Miridae Deraeocoris flavilinea When can we expect to see the recording scheme on the NBN Joe?
I have noticed the upgrading on some sites with instant links, such as the UKMoths site.
It's quite obvious even with moths though that many moths are only where there's recorders! I've been checking some micros I have, and surprise surprise, Lincolnshire is devoid of those too! When I finally get my moths all sorted perhaps I can change that, along with bugs etc.

| | | Re: Miridae Deraeocoris flavilinea There's a digitisation programme for the records going on currently, but the bulk is still on paper. With a bit of luck the data will be available online at some point in the next year or two (maybe), but I don't know whether they will be put onto NBN (there are issues with data reliability on there, which most users are unaware of) or held separately.
The problem of gaps in the data where there are no recorders is always going to be with us, although hopefully it will become better as we get more people out there willing and able to confirm IDs thoroughly enough to be reliable. High-powered digital cameras help a lot, but of course they aren't the solution to everything... but even recognising the distinctive ones with a photo record is going to be good enough to help a great deal. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
