Help ID large fly, please


Can somebody identify this fly for me? A pronounced white band all around the abdomen, broad dark bands on the wing. A small housefly in the top image shows the scale.

A hoverfly- Volucella pellucens. Harmless, the larvae scavenge in wasp nests.
