| | | Bright wasp/fly green and pink what is it? Ok folks, no picture im afraid but literally just been on the garden and watched what looked to be a small wasp or fly with a metallic bright green thorax and a metallic bright pink abdomen. Any ID would be great, im hoping to catch it if I see it again and take a pic but until hten Im relying on you lot.
It measured approx 7mm had a stout build and typical low stance of an inchneumon or similar.
Fanatasitc coulours i the afternoon sun.
cheers in advance, Meinchewster. |

Yes, as said I'll have to agree with the Ruby-tailed Wasp suggestions. Great little insects, seen more in my garden this year ( one of c7mm, other 3-4mm) than I have through visiting a range of sites in all previous years.
Take care, Jason |

| | | Re: Bright wasp/fly green and pink what is it? Thanks Eucera and Jason,
I was blown away by the colours of the specimen and just how beautiful it was. Ive got to say, Ive never come across one before despite all the hours spent surveying and generally looking at wildlife.
from a personal perespective thats two brilliant finds for me this time round, the wasp and the ant mimic spider on the garden. |
