| | | Horse Flies I had to fight off the Horse Flies here in North Kent today. They scored 10 out of 10 for persistence! I've never come across so many, big ones, psychodelic eye ones and ones that make a bee line for bare flesh, determined to get you at every corner. I don't dislike them, infact I find them fascinating but boy I got a bit fed up with their continual harassment. Anyone else suffered today?

| | | Re: Horse Flies Two days ago I got bitten on my right hand which swelled up quite a bit, I squashed one that was just starting to bite my left hand, the amount of blood you would think I had been shot, it must have fed already elsewhere, and also got bitten on my neck, which has swollen up just beneath my ear. Only 3 bites, but they seem more powerful this year, the swelling was a good bit more than usual!

| | | Re: Horse Flies They were very persistent on Crowle Moor the other day too. I didn't get bitten, but boy were they annoying. |

| | | Re: Horse Flies I was bitten by one last night and I have quite a lot of swelling. It is red hot and quite itchy. I am taking anti-histamines and using hydrocortisone cream but to little effect. |

| | | Re: Horse Flies I took some right nasty bites from the little blighters today. One in particular was very persistent...drove me crazy!
But, having recently got back from Skiathos where there is a serious mossie explosion this year, I kept trying to remind myself that it is not so bad.
