Any ideas what it could be??

Hello Everyone,

I'm new to this fantastic website - I found it while trying to identify a flying beetle?? this morning.

I was having breakfast outside and noticed several (30 ish) of what I thought was either midges or fruit flies. However, when a couple landed on me I noticed that they are actually more like beetles, with a hard outer shell and wings that tuck up underneath. They are very small, approx 3-4mm long and 2-3mm wide.

Does anyone have an idea of what they may be?

I'm not really sure,have you tried looking at the Pollen Beetles.

Afternoon NF, and welcome to WAB!

From the description a Beetle species is possible, what colours were involved - could you upload a photograph or colour drawing? That should help.

Thanks Jason, I think they are pollen beetles! Our garden backs onto a field which was full of rape. The beetles are all over the flowers on my peony bush. Many thanks for your help.
