ID this insect?
A few of us were out enjoying the sun in the garden today when this insect flew past us and landed on a clover. None of us had ever seen an insect like this before. At first glance, as it flew past, it looked like a bee but then we noticed it was more like some sort of beetle.

It barely moved from that spot and was moving from clover to clover for well over an hour.

Any ideas of what it could be?

Afternoon Yan, and welcome to WAB!

It's the rare Bee Chafer beetle, or Trichius fasciatus in scientific terms. Was this up towards Scotland, or in Wales?
