Cricket and grasshopper ID

A couple of Orthoptera ID's.

1: Can anyone confirm this is Roesel's Bush-cricket? (apologies for the poor photo)

forgot to mention:

Sizes are about 15-20mm long for the bush-cricket, and about 15mm for the grasshopper, both found in quite dense grassland.

Definately Rosel's for the first (a male nymph) and I'm thinking meadow grasshopper or possibly lesser marsh? Do you have a top view?

Afraid not Gill, but thanks a lot for the suggestions.

My 2005 collin's shows me outside the range of the Roesel. I presume it has spread since this distribution map was drawn.

Massively spreading.... I see it more than any other cricket. I doubt very much whether it would still qualify as 'Nationally Scarce'. They have a song that sounds very much like a free wheeling bicycle that gets faster the hotter it is.

I agree with Gill - Roesel's Bush-cricket and Lesser Marsh Grasshopper (with some degree of uncertainty about the latter).

The distribution of Roesel's Bush-cricket can be seen on the NBN Gateway NBN Gateway: Roesel's Bush-cricket (Metrioptera roeselii) grid map (which should be reasonably up to date). Records in your area may be of considerable interest to your local recorder - they may still be spreading into the area - so the record is well worth reporting http://www.orthoptera.org.uk/recording.aspx .
