| | | Re: sawfly and mirid bug? The mirid looks like it may have only recently emerged. It looks very pale. Being a green one its probably beyond me but I'll have a stab at Lygocoris pabulinus. Shape fits, antennna length too.
Wait and see what the experts have to say though
cheers, Ashe
PS I dont do flies |

| | | Re: sawfly and mirid bug? Cheers Ashe, that was my original thinking, but head/eyes seemed wrong so I thought Orthotylus - but they are all quite similar to my inexpert eyes - so still wait for an expert then?
Thanks a lot
Ken

I can't get Calocoris alpestris out my head for the bug...
Take care, Jason |

| | | Re: sawfly and mirid bug? I'm honestly not sure from just the one photo. It could well be alpestis, if the first antennal segments are foreshortened, but it's unusually washed-out (perhaps teneral). The membrane venation is right, as is the shape. What size was it? C. alpestris is much larger than most of the other green bugs, at around 10 mm. |

| | | Re: sawfly and mirid bug? Same sort of thoughts here, Joe.
I've never seen alpestris on WAB before, and couldn't guage the first antennal segs. Still, the eyes look almost pinky (I don't think it's just reflection from the berries) which would back-up your thoughts of teneralism. The hind tibiae look correct, too - pale, and not heavily spined (if at all), and the scutellum appears slightly elongate... |

| | | Re: sawfly and mirid bug? Hi both, thanks for that input - Calocoris alpestris image on WAB does look similar, maybe mine washed out for some reason....................
They arent berries, Jason, red Valerian flowerhead - bug length size maybe up to 10mm, poss a bit less, but it was one I noticed when there rather than when the flower shot was put on the PC, so not very small. Sorry for lack of precision!
Does this further shot help?
Cheers
Ken
