Help with Damselflys pls..

saw these yesterday.

Female blue-tailed damselfly infuscans?



ok next one got me, has thorax of common blue but the s2 marking to me appears to be a cross between common blue and azure...?

Not the best angle for certainty but would the lack of spur on thorax indicate a Common Blue IMHO.

First one is a female Blue-tailed of the form Infuscans-obsoleta (the Infuscans form has a black humeral stripe across the shoulder which seperates the pale antehumeral stripe from the side of the thorax - in the Infuscans-obsoleta form the humeral stripe is at best a fairly indistinct brown colour.

The second is a male Common Blue Damselfly - the broad antehumeral stripes on the top of the thorax, and the completely blue 8th & 9th abdomenal segment are good ID pointers. The markings on segment 2 of the abdomen look normal to me, but are obscurred by the wings.

Thanks Roy (and cybershot) so the wineglass shape is normal? Thats ok then will look at the other pointers as you suggested above then in future!
