heres a task for y'all, identify the squashed dragonfly

i found this dragonfly and i took it home as you dont often get a chance to get a good look at them close up.

some one had stood on it,

Hi an welcome to WAB,

I am no expert on dragonflies but it seems that it may be a Chaser of one sort or another, its a job to make out the colour from your pictures but if the colour is the same as the one in this picture.

I would say a Black-tailed Skimmer. Chasers have dark wing bases which this specimen appears to lack.

thanks for the reply- i saw one of these the other day when i was on the bus, huge things.

you get quite alot where i live its fab, i live on the out skirts of city and its quiet
on my local patch i have lots of diff habitats -marshland, rough grass land, coast and estury,ancient woodland within 500 meters of each other
and farms within a mile.
this year i had baby lapwings and oyster catchers with in meters of me!
