A couple of IDs for you clever people!

I'm struggling a little with these as I don't have any books for IDs
The first is quite obviously a shield bug but i'm just not confident putting a name to it...


I have no idea on this at all!


I know the one on the right is a Thick-thighed flower beetle and the other looks like a sawfly, but which one?

The first is a sloe shield bug, sorry but I don't know the others.

Sawfly is a Tenthredo sp. It actually looks quite interesting, pity I don't have the specimen

second photo is a Grass Bug, perhaps Leptopterna dolabrata

Thanks for all the replies! Oxycera, I did get another picture of the sawfly from the side if that would help ID (probably not!). I'll put it on anyway just in case...

Thanks! It was found in North Hampshire (Basingstoke area) on a well-used footpath between farmers' fields. There are a few copses around but it's mainly open arable land. As you can see, it was on the flower of hogweed (or was it cow parsley?). I hope this is enough info, and don't worry if you don't have the time it's enough kindness just to look!

The first is Dolycoris baccarum, the Hairy Shieldbug. The second is indeed Leptopterna dolabrata.

Am I right in thinking that the sloe bug and hairy shield bug are both common names for the same species?

Having looked at the sawfly more closely, it may well be one of the commoner D group, arcuata etc. It would have been useful to have had an open wing shot. Sorry.
