Lots of these about! Is it a sort of weevil?

I'm glad you put this up, I found one the other day but couldn't get a proper focus on it before it fell off the nettle leaf to disappear into the undergrowth. I got stung for my troubles too, but it was such a lovely blue.

Hope we get an ID.

It's a weevil- probably Phyllobius pomaceus as this is the species looking like this that is regular on nettles ( as shown), but there are similar species.

There certainly are! Yes, a Phyllobius and agree most likely to be pomaceus as Aesh says - but you need a specimen and microscope to be unequivocally certain, or if not able then a range of very high-res shots for likely IDs.

Yes! These ones have a nice, more characteristic-look than a lot of more non-descript Weevils.
