Id dragon flie
Hi, can anyone help, away in June and took this picture of this electric blue dragon fly, it's beautiful? Taken on the along the river Sieont North Wales.

Just guessing here but I would suggest a Beautiful Demoiselle (Calopteryx virgo) or possibly Banded Demoiselle (Calopteryx splendens). Rather appropriate names I think.

From that action photo, I wouldn't like to choose between them; but one of the experts may be able to offer better information.

I saw one flying past a couple of weeks ago but it wouldn't stop for a photo.

It is indeed beautiful, it's a male Beautiful Demoiselle

Nice photo and a good find, we don't get them round these parts very much.
